Dealer AI Shopping Readiness Audit
Can AI car-buying assistants understand and recommend your inventory?
We test what AI shopping assistants can find, understand, and explain about your dealership, then show you which website and data gaps need attention.
How shoppers buy now
Your next buyer may ask an AI assistant before they ever see your site.
Shoppers increasingly use ChatGPT and other AI assistants to compare vehicles, ownership costs, dealerships, policies, and offers. The assistant reads what it can reach, summarizes it, and suggests where to go next.
If your inventory, pricing, and policies aren't clear to that assistant, the answer the shopper gets may leave you out, or describe you wrong.
Why dealers disappear
The causes are usually practical, and fixable.
Thin VDP data
Vehicle pages missing trim, options, mileage, or real descriptions give an assistant little to work with.
Inconsistent pricing
Prices that differ between the VDP, the feed, and third-party listings, or hide their conditions, are hard to explain.
Blocked crawlers
robots.txt rules, bot protection, or JavaScript-only pages can stop search and AI fetchers from reading content at all.
Unclear policies
Fees, trade-ins, delivery, returns, and warranties that aren't written down plainly can't be answered accurately.
Weak entity signals
Inconsistent name, address, and phone details across the web make it harder to tie facts to your store.
Incomplete structured data
Missing or invalid Vehicle, Offer, and AutoDealer markup leaves page relationships ambiguous.
What the audit checks
Eight categories, each backed by evidence.
Weights show how much each category counts toward the 100-point readiness score.
Crawl and access
robots.txt, sitemap, status codes, canonical URLs, important content in the initial HTML, and access for search and user-triggered AI fetchers.
Inventory and VDP data
VIN, price, mileage, trim, availability, photos, descriptions, options, incentives, freshness, and consistent inventory feeds.
Pricing and offer clarity
Price conditions, fees, incentives, financing assumptions, trade-in language, expiration dates, and disclosure visibility.
Structured data and entities
Vehicle, Product, Offer, AutoDealer or LocalBusiness markup, dealership identity, NAP consistency, and valid page relationships.
Answerable dealership content
Service, finance, returns, delivery, warranties, trade-ins, appointment policies, and direct answers to buyer questions.
Local authority and reputation
Google Business Profile, review patterns, third-party references, staff and location details, and consistent brand facts.
AI answer testing
A buyer-intent prompt set checked for accuracy, source attribution, omissions, contradictions, competitor comparisons, and dated evidence.
Conversion and measurement
Clear next actions, working forms and phone links, GA4 events, source attribution, and referral tracking.

- Agencies and website providers responsible for site performance who want an independent read.
Methodology
What we test, and what we don't claim.
Every finding is tied to evidence: the prompts we used, the sources the assistant cited, the URLs we tested, and the date of testing. The report separates what we observed from what we recommend, so you can see which is which.
Limitations. AI answers vary by platform, location, session, and date. The audit reports observable gaps and recommended fixes. It does not guarantee rankings, citations, traffic, or sales.
No single file or markup type, including llms.txt, FAQPage markup, or any one schema type, causes AI recommendations. We treat them as part of making your information clear, not as a switch.
